After a night of rain, and the usual heat of
Texas, the DFW Wildlife Coalition volunteers celebrated being
part of the DFW Wildlife Coalition crew with fellow volunteers and their
families at a picnic at Lewisville Lake Environmental
Learning Area. This was just a few weeks after recognizing our volunteers
during Volunteer Week April 27th through May 3rd.
Part of the fun was taking a tour of the buffalo herd before having the picnic. Some volunteers snapped a few pictures in between the Bison tour and the good eats. There was also a volunteer recognition presentation and some volunteers received awards for their efforts.
LLELA is a beautiful area that occupies "a unique ecological position in the landscape of North America" (click for site reference).
Registration is required for Bison tours. If you'd like to go on a Bison tour at LLELA, please contact them at (972) 219-7980.
Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is located in Lewisville off of I-35E and Valley Ridge. Visit their website for driving directions, hours of operation, and other information.
