Please note the following to determine whether a bird needs the immediate attention of a permitted rehabilitator:

• Bird has obvious signs of trauma such as blood, a broken or unevenly drooping wing, or leg injury

• Bird has been in a cat’s mouth

• Bird was found with fire ants on or around it

• Bird has fishing line or other obstacle attached to its leg or wing

Birds with the above signs of illness or trauma should be safely transported (see transport instructions) to a permitted rehabilitator as soon as possible.
